Introduction and application of CAS No.6980-11-6 | 7-Chloro-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine

7-Chloro-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (7CI) is a hydrophobic compound that has affinity for nucleotides. It is a competitive inhibitor of the ATPase activity of mammalian adenosine triphosphatases and inhibits cryptosporidium parvum growth in vitro by binding to the transporter protein, which prevents uptake of nutrients into the parasite. 7CI is not active against Cryptosporidium hominis or other species of Cryptosporidium. It also inhibits the atpase activity of flavonoid derivatives.

7-Chloro-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine is used as a reagent in the synthesis of purine derived S-adenosylhomocysteine/methylthioadenosine nucleosidase inhibitors which display antimicrobial activity. Also used as highly selective CYP3A4 inhibitors.
